A collaborative series on Active History exploring how AI can support collaboration in historical research, and the technical and ethical questions it raises.
AI and Collaboration is a series on Active History, initiated by Chloë Farr, Jessica Jack and me and edited by Sara Wilmshurst. It explores how AI can facilitate collaboration in historical research while weighing the technological and ethical challenges that users of large language models must consider.
It grew out of our critique of Talkie-1930, a “vintage” language model. Where Talkie extracted knowledge, the series models sharing it: each post has a lead author and is written with the other two.
